Karene is an independent midwife who is grounded in natural birth and believes that most women are able to safely give birth without medical intervention. She therefore supports women/wāhine who choose to birth at home.
She provides care that is holistic and gentle, supportive and empowering, and acts in partnership with the woman/wahine and her family/whanau, sharing decision-making, knowledge and skills.
Already a registered nurse, Karene trained as a midwife in 1989. Since then she has spent time working with women/wāhine in the community, at primary birthing units and at Waikato hospital.
Karene lives in the Waipa area.
